Seeing a Social Worker
Social work is a profession dedicated to enhancing human capacity to solve complex social problems in order to create a more humane and just society. One of the cornerstones of social work practice is a focus on the strengths, as opposed to the shortcomings, of individuals, families and communities so that these can be deployed to find creative solutions for complex social problems.
Social workers who concentrate in mental health training are viewed as mental health therapists and clinical social workers who provide change through therapeutic interventions and social theory with clients in order to understand human behavior and to improve lives.
At Capital District Behavioral Health, our licensed social worker is specialized in helping individuals, families and youths with psychological concerns, reach new skills to overcome life threatening problems, facilitate family unity, LGBT concerns, trauma and recovery, and overcoming addictions. In addition, our clinician also links clients to essential clinical resources in the community to coordinate overall wellness.
